Since its humble beginnings as the State Normal School No. 2 in 1871, the University of Central Missouri has remained consistent in its mission – transforming students into lifelong learners who use their education to serve their communities. The heritage of UCM and the value of its meaningful degrees has and will continue to be passed from generation to generation. See current Mission and Vision here.

Opening its doors in a rented building with only 30 students, UCM is now home to nearly 10,000 students that represent 43 states and 32 countries. In 2021, we celebrate the historic milestone of our sesquicentennial.

As we look back on the past 150 years of tradition and innovation, we also look to the future with the same passion and hard-working spirit as those who came before. Help us celebrate our legacy and follow the sesquicentennial story at #UCM150!
